Safety Measures To Remember When Handling Skid Steer Electrical Controllers

By Carolyn Morris

Sometimes when the operator is away, to prevent unplanned or unintentional movement of the hydraulics and loader, the skid steer loaders are made using various safety measures. A majority of people sidestep these safety procedures, and by doing this, there are serious consequences that arise, some of them being accidents or even death for those working in and around the machines. Below are safety measures to adhere to when handling skid steer electrical controllers.

Always read and understand well the manufacturers manual before operating this equipment. Every manufacturer will give an operating manual when selling this kind of machine. The manuals will differ among various manufacturers and also depend on the type of machine. Ensure that you understand all the operating instructions, troubleshooting tips, and specifications before working with than machine.

At any point you are out of that operating seat, ensure that machine is off. Most of these operators leave the machines on thinking they will be out of that seat for a short while. This is why they do not see the need of switching this machine off. This is wrong; anything could happen; a bird, for instance, can come and land on one of the leavers.

In all the operations, use the machine as instructed. Other controllers think they are experts, so they want to use the machine the wrong way. You may not see the outcome of the action immediately. The manufacturers had a reason before they said you should use the machine in a certain way.

Any equipment that is malfunctioning or is modified should be treated as being out of service for a while. Unless an expert thoroughly checks it and confirms that it is in the optimal working level; it should be put on the side. It should not be used until all the malfunctioning parts are removed, repaired and replaced.

Unless the bucket has enough space for more than one operator, do not let other riders into the bucket especially while operating. When space is small, it poses a risk allowing another person in the bucket. Their lives and your life is endangered and should an accident occur; you may end up facing serious charges. Therefore be wise enough not to let another person in if space does not allow it.

Emphasize on the routine checkups, inspections, and maintenance programs. Unlike human beings who will tell you when they feel unwell, machines do not talk. You do not have to wait until they break down, you can take them to the experts to confirm that they are in good condition.

The operators of the machine should be well trained and fully qualified for the job before allowing them to operate it. The law requires that they be well trained for the task. They also should have had experience working such machine previously. This way, the chances of accidents or damages is minimized. It also will help prevent facing any legal charges in case a problem arises during operation.
