Reasons Why Wear Liners Reduce Efficiency

Wearing away is common in equipment and machines that are used frequently. This aspect decreases the ability of these machines to work efficiently. However, the effectiveness can be increased by appropriate maintenance services. When these machines are maintained well, their life-span also increases. Wear liners are layers used in shielding the inner parts of a machinery from wearing away.

Lubrication methods have increased with advancements in technology. Though a liner protects the inner parts, it also wears off from different aspects. It is thus crucial to replace this layer frequently to guarantee safety of the important pieces of machinery. These parts can weaken quickly if proper protection is not observed. Consider the following sources of wear in liners.

When two surfaces are sliding against each other, friction is produced. This friction leads to wearing down of the two surfaces. This type of tear depends on different factors like the temperature in the area, the kind of materials used and the speed of movement of these parts. Friction is one of the leading factors of inefficiency.

Particles between two surfaces can also be a leading reason for inefficiency of liners. The particles are produced from the incineration part in this equipment. These particles weaken the liner when the machine is running. It is important to get rid of these particles that destroy the inner part of the lining. This is through frequent cleaning of machines.

In machines that support burning of heavy fuels, corrosion is likely to occur. During combustion, there is production of sulphur. When this content is in a large amount, it leads to production of sulphuric acid in the presence of water or moisture inside the incineration space. Once this acid is formed, there is corrosion that weakens the materials near this place. However, the problem can be avoided by using an alkaline to neutralize the acidity.

Due to the movement of pistons inside, their shiny appearance change. With time a rough surface is formed. This roughness can tear off liners when there is constant movement. This problem comes about when lubrication is not enough between these surfaces. Due to overheating in this sector, the lubricating oil cannot support the purpose. The efficiency is reduced thus the piston cannot be protected.

When there are irregularities between linings and pistons, there is creation of minor marks on the liner surface. These marks resemble those formed through abrasion. The marks are formed when the lubricant oil is not enough between the two surfaces in operation. Tearing occurs on the protection layer and the surface of the piston. Though this may not be destructive, it can affect the machine if not rectified in good time.

The discussed are some of the reason of tear in a liner. To increase the effectiveness of these layers, continuous maintenance is important. Compared to metals inside, these layers have a high exposure to corrosion and friction. It is thus crucial to provide maintenance services constantly.
